Proud Supporter of Local Kind

The Northern Beaches is a paradise of popular surf beaches, cafes and fashionable residential areas. Yet underneath the idyllic surface, it's surprising to realise that the area struggles with the growing community problems of homelessness, domestic and family violence alongside families, youth and refugee challenges.

Ask any resident on the Northern Beaches who Local Kind is and be prepared for a perplexed response! Turns out this little known charity based in Manly has one serious brand awareness problem which threatens their opportunity to fundraise and therefore their actual existence.

Who is Local Kind?

Local Kind is a not-for-profit organisation that has supported vulnerable and at-risk people within the Northern Beaches LGA since 1977. They were known as Community Northern Beaches until early 2024 when they rebranded. Local Kind’s mission is to build connections, strengthen the community and foster a future well-bring by providing accessible support that is responsive to the community’s needs.

How does marketing make a difference?

We worked together with Local Kind on their first ever “real” marketing strategy by running a series of facilitated workshops. Together, we co-created a marketing direction and tactical plan on how to drive local brand awareness and increase public donations. The process was enriching and built a strong sense of team across Local Kind’s management and service leads.

Armed with a strong set of tactics, the work has started including the onboarding of a Growth Manager who is focused on fundraising events and forging strong relationships with the community, business owners, councillors and politicians on the Northern Beaches.

Additionally, our charismatic Founder Amanda has been the MC at their major fundraising events held at iconic local locations including Pilu on Freshwater, Manly Pacific Hotel and 7th Day Brewery.

Through providing on-going pro-bono marketing consultation and event MC integration, Pencil Box Marketing is able to do good by helping our local community.

What can you do?

To keep the doors open, Local Kind needs the support of the public through donations which can be monetary, products for those in need or volunteering your time. If you’d like to learn more or donate, please reach out directly to Craig Locke, General Manager at Local Kind on ceo@localkind.org.au.
